But this morning, my first Monday morning not having to go to work, was a bit different. I awoke fairly early as I usually do, took a shower and got dressed, and took Guayo for a walk. This is usually an activity done by Roy, as I'm rushing off to work in the a.m. and don't have time. However, this morning we walked twice around the circle, talked to 6 of our neighbors who were all so happy for me, and then came home. Roy was in his p.j.'s so told him to get showered and dressed and I'd treat him to Starbucks since I'd received a gift card from a wonderful friend/neighbor here in Granite Shadows.
When Guayo hears "Starbucks", his ears perk up and he's ready to go. So once we were ready I said,
"Come on Guayo...let's go to Starbucks" and he was at the door waiting for his harness and leash. We got to Sgtarbucks, ordered our drinks and sat outside in the shade enjoying the absolutely perfect morning weather and our drinks. About10 minutes in to our respite and conversation, I looked at Roy and said, "Roy, today is Monday morning, and instead of being at work I am sitting here with my hubby and dog having a wonderful drink, relaxing and enjoying the gorgeous day. I'm retired...whoooo hooooo! And do you smell that smell in the air? (No from Roy). Well, that's the smell of freedom!!"
So it's official. I'm retired. But I'm not sitting in the rocking chair on the porch. We are getting ready for a new adventure and our house is HECTIC right now. This blog will be about our next adventure in life, and we've had a lot of them in the 18+ years we've been married. So hold on to your hats, and come along for the journey with us. And if you live in CA, OR, or WA (and a few places in Canada), you can keep track of how close we are to you and approximate the day we'll be there to see you!
