July 4, 2013--Fourth Of July in Hot Sunny Sacramento

July 4, 2013--Thursday---Independence Day Celebration

A stay at home day today. Roxy and I worked together in the kitchen to cook up a great 4th of July dinner.  It's too darn hot to do bbq outside, so
here we are after so many years, cooking and singing and having a great time in the kitchen together.
The menu will include boneless short ribs well seasoned with 1896 Prescott seasoning and other delightful herbs, then browned and cooked in the
pressure cooker until tender with some extra onions. Mashed potatoes, salad, cooked carrots, rolls and for dessert homemade rice pudding with ripe fresh cherries and foofie sauce (mix together Cool Whip non fat/sugar free, room temp low fat cream cheese, and greek yogurt for this delicious and low cal treat on top of fresh fruit) completes the menu.

We are joined by Hannah, Roxy's daughter, and her partner Nick for dinner.  They brought wonderful mixers, juices grenadine, and diet ginger ale for non-alcoholic beverage treats for the get together.  It had been many years since we'd seen Hannah, and it was a joy to see her and visit with her and get to know her as a grown woman.  She's delightful.
We didn't attend the fireworks, but some of the neighbors kept us entertained with their noisemakers and we were fine with that. The weather report is for cooler temperatures tomorrow. That would be a real blessing!
